WASHING MACHINE REPAIR

It’s normal for washer parts to deteriorate over time, causing your machine to operate less efficiently or possibly malfunction. Some problems can be resolved with a minor adjustment, while others require more extensive repairs.

At Ateliers G. Paquette, our technicians can repair any type of washer. If your machine has stopped working, don’t let the laundry pile up! For expert advice and appliance repair services, count on our qualified team.

Here are some tips for troubleshooting some of the most common washing machine problems.

TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR WASHING MACHINE

Inspect your home’s water supply lines to ensure that they aren’t blocked or damaged and that the caps are securely attached. If the solenoid valves are blocked or defective, you should call in a professional.

YOUR WASHER WON’T EMPTY

Check your home’s drain pipe for kinks or jams that could prevent drainage and make sure the cap is securely closed. If your washer’s drain pump is clogged or broken, call us to resolve the issue.

YOUR CLOTHES COME OUT SOAKING WET

Ensure that the load you’re washing is balanced and that the lid is completely closed. In addition, inspect the drain. The water needs to drain from the machine entirely before the clothes can be wrung. If the agitator (the large spindle at the centre of the wash drum) doesn’t spin or spins sluggishly during the spin cycle, there’s likely a mechanical issue. If this is the case, give us a call.

YOUR WASHER SMELLS BAD

Make sure you use the correct amount of detergent and fabric softener for the cycle you’re running and the type of clothes you’re washing. You should also ensure that the detergent dispenser is clean. Moreover, are you sure that you’re using the right detergent and fabric softener? Ateliers G. Paquette carries specialized soaps such as Comerco detergent (product no. HE2.5L) that optimize your washer’s performance without damaging the environment. Periodic maintenance is also recommended. For this you can use WasherFreshTM descaling tablets (product no. WASHERFRESH3). Visit one of our locations to find these products or order them online.

YOUR WASHER STAINS YOUR CLOTHES

Make sure that your washer is filling correctly, that you’re using the correct detergent and fabric softener (for washing machine detergent, we recommend Comerco, product no. HE2.5L) and that the amount of detergent you use is appropriate for the wash cycle and fabric type. If your detergent dispenser appears to be blocked or broken, call in one of our technicians.

YOUR WASHER DISPLAYS AN ERROR CODE

Refer to the list of error codes in your user’s manual. Many of the error codes correspond to easy-to-fix problems. If the code your machine displays isn’t listed in the user’s manual, you may have a serious mechanical failure on your hands. Contact us right away to have your washer inspected and repaired.

YOUR WASHER TEARS YOUR CLOTHES

Ensure that the washer fills properly. Also be mindful of what items you wash together (don’t mix delicate clothes with articles that have zippers or fasteners) and always select the appropriate cycle and spin options for the load size. You should also inspect the agitator for edges that could catch on clothing. If your agitator doesn’t seem to be spinning correctly, call in a qualified technician.

YOUR WASHER LEAKS

Make sure the machine empties as it should, the plumbing is properly installed and that the door’s seal and locking mechanism are in good condition. If the drain pump, solenoid valves or drum assembly undergo a mechanical failure, you’ll need to call us.

YOUR WASHER BANGS OR MAKES OTHER NOISES

Check the distribution of the load to ensure that the drum isn’t unbalanced. Also, ensure that the washer sits level on the floor. Banging and other sounds can also be caused by clothing articles getting stuck behind the drum or a defective suspension system. Our experts can inspect your washer to find the source of the noise.

YOUR WASHER VIBRATES OR MOVES

Check whether the load distribution is making the drum unbalanced, whether your washer sits level on the floor and whether the floor around your machine is wet or slippery. Alternatively, there may be a problem with the motor or the bearings. Contact us to diagnose and resolve the problem.
